A Chinese delegation led by Yu Zhengsheng, Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, visited an agricultural development program in northern Thailand Friday, making high comments on it.

The program features a typical transformation from poppy growing to agricultural production.

The program, located on top of a mountain in Chiang Mai province, was supported by the King and Queen of Thailand. It was launched in 1969 and has been benefiting the local people ever since.

Over the last four decades, the program has improved the lives of the local farmers dramatically by guiding them to stay away from poppy growing and to grow vegetables and fruits instead. China has provided funding and other forms of aid to the program.
